Looking for the best strollers for your Walt Disney World vacation, but don’t know where to start? Hakuna matata! I’ve got you covered! My name is Aurora and I am a former two-time Disney cast member turned travel advisor! Between my time in the Disney College Program and my annual (sometimes even more than that!) trips to Disney, I have a unique insight to what works and what doesn’t with over 100 visits to the Mouse under my belt.
Finding the right stroller for your littles may seem like an unimportant detail, but I have seen my fair share of toddler meltdowns on Main Street USA in those uncomfortable rental strollers. Look, Disney is a lot. It’s hot, the days are long, and it can be overstimulating to some. Making sure your kiddos have the best stroller is going to ensure they are comfortable and have a place to rest (which they will definitely need), which is going to allow you to explore the parks at your own pace without needing to stop and manage multiple meltdowns. Just trust me. You think about the best pair of shoes for yourself to walk around in the parks, don’t you? Well, think of the stroller as your kiddo’s shoe choice - it’s the foundation of their comfort throughout the day.
Here’s what we’ll cover:
Disney’s rules on outside strollers and rental prices
The best stroller for infants at Disney World
My stroller recommendation for toddlers
Great strollers for mixed-age children and multiples
Strollers for the bigger kids
Additional items to enhance your stroller experience at Disney
So if you’re wondering about Disney’s stroller rules and looking for a stroller that is Disney-approved, you’re in the right place. Let’s jump right in!
Disney’s Rules on Outside Strollers
It comes as no surprise that a place as big as the Walt Disney World Resort, which is over 43 square miles and sees over 100,000 visitors in a day, needs some rules to maintain order. And strollers are no exception! It is important to make sure your stroller meets the guidelines or you may be asked at the entrance to return without it, which would not be a fun way to start your Disney vacation. All of the strollers listed on this post meet Disney’s stroller guidelines, but here are the rules as laid down by the Mouse!
Strollers can be no larger than 31” (79cm) in width and 52” (132cm) in length.
Stroller wagons are not permitted.
Use of stroller is not permitted on escalators.
Children must be removed from their strollers if you choose to ride a parking lot tram.
Never leave personal items unattended in a stroller.
Cast Members may need to move your unattended stroller due to crowd demands (to make space).
Disney’s Stroller Rental Prices
As stated above, I really don’t recommend stroller rentals. They are hard plastic with no cushion, offer very limited storage, and are not built for a clip-on fan (which is essential to keeping the kids cool). However, if you’re unable to purchase a stroller ahead of time or have travel arrangements that don’t allow a stroller, I wanted to offer the information. At current, a single stroller (for children up to 50 lbs) may be rented for $15 per day and a double stroller (for children up to 100 lbs) can be rented for $31 per day. If you plan on visiting the parks for multiple days, Disney offers a multi-day discount. Single strollers on the multi-day rental are $13 per day and double strollers are $27 per day. Please note that strollers rented at Disney Springs require a $100 credit card deposit.
The Best Stroller for Infants at Disney World
For the tiniest of Mickey Mouse’s guests, I definitely recommend a stroller that offers versatility in position. The LORTSYBAB 2-in-1 Stroller with Bassinet Mode 100% fits the bill and is suitable for ages newborn-36 months. This stroller offers a sitting position, semi-reclined position, and fully reclined position, as well as being fully reversible so your little one can face toward you or away. It also boasts a one-step brake and has shock absorbers to keep baby sleeping when it’s nap time. It is fully collapsible with one-hand quick folding and clocks in at only 20 lbs.
Stroller Recommendation for Toddlers
This next one is absolutely great if you are looking for something lightweight that can collapse into an airplane overhead storage bin. It is the Inglesina Quid Stroller for ages 3 months and up. It weighs only 13 lbs and has a roomy storage bin underneath. The extendable hood is UPF 50+ and it offers a multi-position recline, adjustable leg rest, and a roll-up ventilation window.
Strollers for Multiples and Mixed-Age
Traveling with more than one kiddo? Don’t worry, I have recommendations for that, too!
This next stroller has been named by several sources as being THE best Disney-approved stroller. It’s the Jeep Destination Side x Side Double Stroller. It features pop-out canopies with SPF 50 sun visors, peek-a-boo windows to keep an eye on the kids, and a huge storage bin underneath. The seats recline independent of each other, which is important when you have one child wanting to nap and the other at full attention to everything going on around them. It is made of water-resistant fabric (which is a huge perk in Florida!), offers a one-step brake, and has child swing bars that are perfect for attaching a fan.
If you have one kiddo that is more active than the other or an age gap, consider a sit and stand stroller. It allows for one child to sit in the front and another to stand or sit in the rear, facing the adult. I recommend the Funyard Sit and Stand Stroller, which has a removable canopy, large storage basket, and tray table for the front rider.
More than two kids going on the trip? If that’s the case, I definitely recommend a quad stroller. Even if you only have three kiddos visiting the parks, triple strollers often come tandem style which means it can be hard to find a quality triple stroller that meets the length restrictions placed by Disney. Instead, for three or four kids, I recommend Gaggle by Foundations Odyssey 4 Seat Quad Stroller. Coming in just shy of Disney’s size restrictions, this is one of the few Disney-approved quad strollers on the market. Offering a storage pouch by the handle and a bin underneath the seats, this is a great option for the adults who don’t want to carry extra bags around all day.
Strollers for Bigger Kids
If your child is on the sturdier side or older with special needs, finding a stroller can be a bit trickier. I scoured reviews until I found the Hamax Outback Reclining Multi-Sport Stroller, which has a weight limit of up to 75 lbs. It’s intended to use for sports like jogging and biking, however the standard stroller works just the same as any other! It has a roomy interior and weather protection, which is a definite plus in Florida!
Stroller Add-Ons for the Best Experience
There are additional items for your stroller that will make all the world of difference for your little ones (and in turn you)! The first and most important is a stroller fan! These are battery operated (rechargeable) and have flexible legs which can bend around the bar on a stroller to stay perfectly positioned all day long. Making sure you have a comfy stroller is part one in having a meltdown-free day, but adding in a stroller fan keeps your babies cool and happy throughout the day!
Another thing that will elevate your Disney World stroller experience is supplementing the existing stroller storage with additional storage. Trust me, you can NEVER have enough places to stash stuff when you are in the parks. Check out these absolutely adorable sling cargo net bags that I found!
Or if you want something with a little more room, consider a universal stroller storage bag that attaches to the handle of your stroller. The item I’m linking is a cooler, so just remember that ice is not allowed to be brought into the parks (though you can stuff your soft cooler full of snacks and bottles of water for the day!
Another thing that is helpful when pushing around a stroller is a phone clip. It can be difficult to hold onto your phone and push a stroller all day, but if your phone is tucked away then you might miss spontaneous photo ops (which is one of the best ways to capture your Disney memories). I definitely recommend a phone clip that attaches to the stroller handle so you aren’t digging around for your phone constantly!
Even if you aren’t planning on doing any shopping, you’re going to do some shopping. It’s Disney! But even if you’ve got plenty of bin space under the stroller seats, it’s always smart to grab some bag clips for the stroller. These are a great way to utilize your stroller handle for storage and keep the bin underneath more organized (as opposed to stuffing everything down there).
Let’s not forget a place to put our drinks! The one great thing about needing a stroller at Disney is that you can customize your experience to not only make it easier for the kids, but for the adults, too! I highly recommend getting a drink holder, which is going to prevent you from having to dig around for bottles or have your hands full all day.
One last thing for a magical addition - fairy lights! This is a simple way to make your kids feel like they are riding around in Cinderella’s carriage! I have seen tons of parents wrap fairy lights around the bars of their strollers and they look absolutely magical at nighttime when the fairy lights get turned on. Plus it’s a great way to differentiate your stroller to find it quickly when you park it out in a stroller area!
If you’ve got a Disney trip coming up and were uncertain about the stroller requirements in the parks, I hope this post helped you out and gave you some additional ideas for stroller accessories that will make your vacation a lot easier on you! I have seen too many meltdowns in the stroller rentals to count, so again I highly suggest skipping the rental and checking out my suggestions above!
